About
VANBUS
Our journey into van and campervan conversions kicked off in the late ’90s with a humble Vauxhall Midi – the company work van. As keen surfers, we’d chuck the tools to one side and squeeze in the boards for weekend getaways. With three people, all our gear, and work tools packed in, space was tight – so we got creative fast.
That van became our first real van conversion – a workhorse during the week and a surf wagon by the weekend. From that point on, we were hooked. Van life had us, and the seed for Vanbus was planted.
Seed sown
Post Military service, Ian, the founder, was deep into a tech-focused career—completing a HND and later working for a decade in aviation designing military comms systems and implementing aircraft simulators—his passion for campervans never faded. Even while deploying systems across military bases throught the world, the dream of Vanbus quietly took shape.
A small workshop was secured, and with help from mates skilled in electrics and woodwork, the first conversions came to life. Everything was handcrafted—furniture shaped with routers, jigs, and good old-fashioned elbow grease. It was slow going, but it laid the foundation for a deep respect for the craft and a passion for building truly special campervans.

Expanding
To boost accuracy and keep up with the growing market, we invested in proper machinery—table saws and our very first CNC machine. But, like many early upgrades, the CNC sat unused for years, gathering dust and doubling as an expensive bench while we carried on with our trusty hand routers!
We kept experimenting with different vans and layouts, shaping the range of products we offer today. We’re always on the lookout for better gear and smarter solutions, constantly evolving our builds based on what our customers want. Fast forward a few years and we moved into a much larger space—our current workshop—giving us room for more tools, ramps, a new CNC, upholstery area, and even a proper display and meeting zone. Like any good workspace, it’s always changing as new ideas roll in.
We’ve proudly secured dealership status with some incredible brands over the years—names like SOLOW, REVO, THQ, SCA, REIMO, and RIB, just to name a few. It’s something we’re genuinely proud of, and it allows us to offer top-quality components and upgrades across all our builds.
